Cleansing, Exfoliation, and Hydration Treatment Near Helena, MT

Cleansing. Exfoliation. Hydration.

At Advanced Practice Dermatology, our aestheticians customize facials to address specific skin concerns. Facials are a relaxing treatment that also offers various benefits, including deep cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration.

What does a facial include?

1. Consultation and Skin Analysis: Before the facial begins, the aesthetician will typically conduct a consultation to understand your skincare concerns, goals, and any specific issues you want to address. They may also analyze your skin type, condition, and any allergies or sensitivities you may have.

2. Cleansing & Exfoliation: The aesthetician will cleanse your face using a gentle cleanser to remove makeup, dirt, and excess oil, followed by an exfoliation.

3. Steam: Depending on the type of facial and your skin’s needs, the aesthetician may use steam or warm towels to open the pores. This helps to facilitate the removal of impurities (extraction) and allows for better product penetration.

4. Extraction (Optional): If needed and desired, the aesthetician may perform manual extractions to remove blackheads, whiteheads, or other clogged pores.

5. Mask: The aesthetician will apply a customized mask based on your skin type and concerns. Masks can have various functions, such as hydrating, clarifying, soothing, or nourishing the skin. While masking, you will be given a hand and arm massage. Then the mask will be removed with a hot towel.

6. Serum: The treatment will be finished with a facial serum massage for ultimate product penetration.

Dermaplane Facial

Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure that involves using a surgical scalpel to gently scrape away the top layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair (commonly known as “peach fuzz”) from the surface of the skin to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. By exfoliating the skin’s surface, dermaplaning allows skincare products to penetrate more effectively, maximizing their benefits. It also creates a smooth canvas for makeup application.

What does a dermaplane facial include?

1. Consultation and Skin Analysis: Before the facial begins, the aesthetician will typically conduct a consultation to understand your skincare concerns, goals, and any specific issues you want to address.

2. Cleansing & Exfoliation: The aesthetician will cleanse your face using a gentle cleanser to remove makeup, dirt, and excess oil.

3. Dermaplaning: Using light, feathering strokes, our trained aesthetician will carefully scrape away the dead skin cells and fine hair.

4. NuPeel Natural Enzyme: Following dermaplaning, a NuPeel natural enzyme will be massaged into your skin, beading up the remaining dead skin cells loosened during dermaplaning.

5. Hot Towel: The aesthetician will cleanse your skin with a hot, wet towel following the mask.

6. Product Application: The treatment will be finished with hydrating, calming, and anti-aging products to nourish your skin, leaving you with a healthy glow.

How is dermaplaning different from a peel?

Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation process that uses no acids or enzymes to remove dead skin cells. Exfoliation is achieved during your treatment, and you will not peel or visibly shed skin after your service. Chemical peels can result in dramatic peeling in the days following service. Dermaplaning provides an excellent alternative for those desiring professional-grade exfoliation without the potential social downtime.

Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?

No, dermaplaning will not alter your natural hair growth.

Who do you recommend dermaplaning for?

Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with active breakouts and men with dense facial hair. If you have active acne, other treatments are available that would be more beneficial. It is necessary to wait until breakouts are healed before trying this treatment. As always, discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment. This is an
excellent treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without using chemicals.

How should I care for my skin after dermaplaning?

After a dermaplaning treatment, treat the skin gently, using a gentle cleanser and moisturizer for at least 2 days and wearing sunscreen daily. Avoid waxing, scrubs, or exfoliators for 1 week. Avoid chlorine for 1 week. No make-up for 24 hours. Dermaplaning removes 21 days’ worth of dead skin cells, so it is best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment. Dermaplaning is recommended every 3-4 weeks.

As with any cosmetic procedure, we recommend consulting with one of our professional aestheticians, who can assess your specific needs and provide an individual recommendation.
